Basic Information
I’m Paul Soderquist. I have been a Christian for as long as I can remember. I was baptized as an infant. Around age 12 I made public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Being in the Reformed tradition and family, I would say that ahead of all that, God called me and claimed me in Jesus Christ and drew me to God’s self. I am who I am, first of all, not because of any faith statement of my own making, but primarily because of the grace of Christ seeking, finding, and embracing me.
I am a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). I was ordained on Pentecost 1980. I have served in ministry in small, medium and large settings. The largest ministry I was ever a part of was as a Navy Chaplain aboard the nuclear aircraft carrier USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69) with 5,000 souls aboard. The smallest ministry I was ever a part of was as Pastor of the Presbyterian congregation in Colfax, Iowa. I have been an interim minister since 1998.
My education includes: Bachelor of Science, Minnesota State University, Mankato, Minnesota, 1977; Master of Divinity, University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, 1980; Doctor of Ministry, San Francisco Theological Seminary, San Anselmo, California, 2004. My doctoral dissertation was Interim Pastor as Spiritual Guide: Spiritual Guidance in Congregations In-between Pastors. I completed interim training through Interim Ministry Network, Baltimore MD, at Tucson, Arizona in 1998. I am a member of the Interim Ministry Network (IMN) and the Association of Presbyterian Interim Ministry Specialists (APIMS).
